Area Development
Montana Biopolymers is planning a facility in Fairfield County, South Carolina, that will produce eco-friendly polymers for industries ranging from cosmetics to plastics. The company will create 10 jobs in its first two years of operation, and expects to begin testing its first production line in April 2011.

"We appreciate the assistance from so many organizations whose personnel worked hard to bring together needed elements," said Joan Combie, CEO, Montana Biopolymers. "For example, Fairfield Economic Development Director Tiffany Harrison facilitated the location of a suitable site and is now engaged in the work force search. Potential investors were impressed by the infrastructure and availability of technical expertise in the area."

The company formerly conducted production offshore, but decided to move operations back to the United States due to South Carolina's business climate.

Montana Biopolymers also produces adhesives that are sold in national markets and will continue to develop this product line.
