AIT Laboratories, a testing and research institution for the biotechnology industry, will invest more than $9 million to establish a new drug development division at its company headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The company plans to create more than 130 new jobs over the next five years for chemists, managers, laboratory technicians, information technology specialists, and customer support staff. "Our close proximity to the airport is one of the reasons we chose to expand here, and the other is because of the top talent we can tap into who are coming out of our great Indiana colleges and universities," says Michael A. Evans, Ph.D., AIT's founder and CEO. The company has been offered up to $1 million in performance-based tax credits by the state, contingent on job creation; the city will also support property tax abatement.
