For what industry experts believe will be the last time, Germany ranked as the top global exporter in 2007. Agence France-Presse reports that exports from Germany reached US$1.4 trillion last year, an increase of 8.5 percent over 2006. China, in second place, sold approximately US$1.22 trillion worth of goods abroad, according to the Chinese trade ministry's official website. The World Trade Organization has predicted that China will surpass Germany in exports in 2009. German-made auto exports led the sales of goods abroad, with 4.3 million vehicles sold.
