ANDRITZ HYDRO, a world supplier of electromechanical systems and services for hydropower plants, opened its first 17,000 square foot stator coil manufacturing facility in Peterborough, Ontario.

To meet the demand in the North American market, this facility will use press curing technology to supply stator coils for use in new and refurbished hydropower generators. First stator coil deliveries are scheduled for summer 2014.

With this investment, supported by the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, ANDRITZ HYDRO is creating new jobs and business growth, all the while maintaining its current engineering design and sales office, in Ontario, the company said.

"I'm delighted that ANDRITZ is taking its Peterborough operations to the next level, adding manufacturing capacity alongside its engineering and sales functions. I thank the company for its ongoing confidence in our community and am pleased our government has the opportunity to be a partner in this important expansion,” said Jeff Leal, Minister of Rural Affairs and MPP for Peterborough.

"With the opening of our new Peterborough production facility, ANDRITZ HYDRO looks forward to providing our customers with an enhanced and further-integrated suite of products and services. Our continued focus on innovation and industry-leading reliability and quality is matched only by our longstanding commitment to hydropower as an economical and environmentally friendly form of energy generation,” Daniel Carrier, Vice President Operations, for ANDRITZ HYDRO LTD said.
