Later this year Sabre Industries, Inc., a major tower, pole and shelter manufacturer, will expand its 35-year-old operation in Sioux City, Iowa to keep up with growth demands.

An initial capital investment of $18 million will serve as the stimulus to create 400 jobs and expand its manufacturing plant. It will also provide space to design, manufacture and ship a variety of poles and utility structures. A second expansion phase will equate to a total investment of $28 million and 532 jobs.

After considering several locations across the country, Sabre officials selected a 150-acre site in the Southbridge Business Park for a multi-phased expansion. Construction of the new 192,000-square-foot manufacturing plant is anticipated to begin this spring and be completed in October 2012.

"This new facility benefits both Sabre and the City of Sioux City," commented Brian Newberg, Vice President and General Manager of Sabre Towers and Poles. "It provides us with the capacity necessary to meet future demand along with a sizable, highly-skilled and technically-sophisticated workforce."

"The cumulative local, regional and state economic development effect from employment and capital expenditures, and the overall ripple effect of the project. is anticipated to be in the millions of dollars, an official from Sioux City Economic Development said.
