Urban Outfitters is investing $80 million to expand its corporate headquarters at Philadelphia's Navy Yard and create 1,000 new jobs. The retailer will add 100,000 square feet to its existing facility by purchasing and redeveloping two Navy Yard buildings.

"When we moved in here, I can tell you there were a great number of skeptics inside and outside of the company. They said, `You're crazy,'" said company founder Richard Hayne at a press conference. "Four-and-a-half years later, we have created the nicest corporate campus in America, I would say with all due humility."

The company located at the Navy Yard in 2006 and currently has six buildings that measure 282,000 square feet. It currently employs 1,300 people at the headquarters.
