BB&T Corporation started construction on a new $30 million, 140,000-square-foot, mortgage servicing center at 825 E. Butler Road in Mauldin, South Carolina.

The new facility will accommodate more than 600 BB&T associates who work primarily in administrative, back office and support functions. BB&T expects to complete construction and move into the facility by the end of the fourth quarter. The company’s mortgage servicing and other operations are currently located at 301 College St. in Greenville.

"Being able to welcome BB&T's Mortgage Division is an enormous opportunity for the city of Mauldin," said Taft Matney, city council member and chairman of the Economic Planning and Development Committee. "BB&T's decision to locate in Millport at East Butler and I-385 showcases more advantages for business in Mauldin.
