Royal Technologies Corporation, a supplier of plastic parts to the automobile industry, will invest up to $30 million to construct a manufacturing facility in Hanceville, Alabama. The Alabama governor's office says the new operation will employ at least 300 people within the next five years. Officials for Royal Technologies, headquartered in Michigan, say the new plant will start at 125,000 square feet with the possibility of further expansion in the future. "We have enjoyed great success in Michigan and will continue to focus our efforts to grow in Michigan, but the Southeastern part of the U.S. has shown tremendous manufacturing growth and we want to capture a portion of that business," says Jim Vander Kolk, the company's founder and owner. "I see this expansion as necessary for a healthy Royal Technologies future." He said the acquisition of additional land around the facility will put the company in a position to expand quickly when the economy rebounds. No information was released regarding financial incentives.
