Bitzer Scroll, a manufacturer of air conditioning and refrigeration compressors, will invest $30 million over the next five years to expand to an existing facility in the Town of Salina, New York, outside Syracuse. More than 300 engineering and manufacturing jobs will be created at the new facility. It is the second U.S.-based manufacturing facility for the company, which is based in Germany and has more than 3,000 employees worldwide. The company received financial incentives from the state and local agencies, including a $1.4 million Empire State Development Corporation grant. As part of its incentives package, Bitzer Scroll will collaborate on research and development with Syracuse University faculty and students.
