Comcast opened the company’s Harrisburg Regional Customer Support Center that has added 425 new employees and is expected to create another 100 jobs in the region by the end of the year. The company entered into a 10-year lease at the former EarthLink building in Susquehanna Township, Pennsylvania, and invested approximately $12 million in leasehold improvements, computer and communication equipment.

The firm established a regional Customer Support Center handling calls from across the Northeast Division, which serves almost eight million customers in 14 northeastern states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia. The facility is currently staffed by more than 500 employees, 425 of whom have filled new positions created through the commonwealth’s investment. Another 100 new positions are expected to be filled by year’s end, bringing total employees at the center to more than 600.

“We knew when we selected Harrisburg as the location for our newest customer support center that it was an ideal mid-state location with a strong and talented labor market,” said Jim Samaha, Regional Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Keystone Region. “We could not be more excited by the strong, talented, committed team we’ve been able to hire, and look forward to welcoming new team members who will be focused on providing the best possible customer service."

Recently, Governor Tom Corbett joined Comcast to announce its plans to develop the ‘Comcast Innovation and Technology Center’ in Center City, Philadelphia. The $1.2 billion, 59-story mixed-use tower is expected to create more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and at least 1,500 new Comcast positions. The center will become the dedicated home for the company’s growing workforce of technologists, engineers and software architects.

“Our partnership with Comcast means 600 job opportunities for Pennsylvanians in the mid-state,” said Governor Corbett. “Comcast’s investment is a testament to the talent and available workforce of the region, and by working together, we are building a stronger Pennsylvania.”
