Rolls-Royce plc, a British company specializing in integrated power systems for land, sea, and air vehicles, will open a marine service center in Galveston, Texas. The company says the 40,000-square-foot facility will provide repair and overhaul expertise for marine customers in the Gulf region. "Our investment in Galveston is part of a broader strategy to increase value to our customers and better meet increasing demand in the offshore, merchant, and naval markets in the U.S. and around the world," says Bill Malacrida, the company's marine regional director for North America. Rolls-Royce operates its marine division out of Singapore. The Galveston facility is expected to be operational next month and will create an unspecified number of jobs. The company did not release information regarding incentives from state or local government agencies.
