MD Logistics, a third-party logistics firm, is opening its fourth warehouse complex in Plainfield, Indiana. The project is expected to create up to 50 new jobs by the end of 2023.

The company is investing $1 million in building improvements and fixturing of the 180,000-square-foot, temperature-controlled storage space, enabling the company to respond to immediate market demand and increase existing supply chain offerings to its current customers.

The new warehouse, leased and updated by the company, is located at 2370 Perry Road near MD Logistics' existing facilities. The facility is now fully operational after the initial build out was completed last month. The homegrown Hoosier company currently employs more than 300 full-time associates across its four-facility campus in Plainfield.

"With 23 years of business in Indiana, we continue to experience double digit growth while maintaining a quality of service our customers have come to expect from us," said Mark Sell, President & CEO of MD Logistics. "This expansion, along with the focus on customers, technology, automation and people, has us well positioned to continue to evolve and be prepared to meet the challenges the logistics industry poses."

As an incentive Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered MD Logistics up to $350,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The town of Plainfield approved additional incentives at the request of the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership.

“Indiana-born companies like MD Logistics are providing continued and sustainable growth in our communities, creating quality career opportunities for Hoosiers,” said Elaine Bedel, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). “As the Crossroads of America, Indiana is the ideal destination for growing logistics providers to help companies deliver products to customers across the country and around the world. With a top-ranked business climate and unprecedented investments being made to increase and enhance connectivity, I’m confident that Indiana will help support MD Logistics’ success for many years to come.”

The recent news follows the company's 2017 expansion announcement, which included the increase of pharmaceutical-grade storage capacity for global and domestic clients in the life sciences and medical device industries, and created an additional 50 new Plainfield jobs. The demand for quality compliant storage environments continues to grow as MD Logistics services the life sciences and retail & consumer goods industries. This, coupled with additional needs from current customers, drove the company to add a fourth facility to its Plainfield campus, which already houses three other warehouses and the company's headquarters.
