Foam and Steel Technology Associates Inc. (FASTA), a manufacturer of
pre-engineered steel and foam construction panels, will invest $2.5
million to open its first manufacturing facility in Littleton, North
Carolina, according to the North Carolina governor's office. The
company plans to create 105 new jobs at an average annual salary of
$28,707 plus benefits. "The site's location provides for exceptional
logistical access to major roadways, and the availability of a highly
qualified labor force in Halifax County will contribute to the
company's long-term success," says Terry Fowler, FASTA's president.
Virginia-headquartered FASTA promotes green building practices for the
efficient use of energy, water, and materials in residential home
building; the company says on its website that its materials are
all-mineral content, energy efficient, and non-toxic. The company has
been offered incentives that include a $300,000 grant from the state,
contingent on job creation and maintenance of pre-determined salary
levels, that must be matched by local agencies.
