Upholstered furniture manufacturer Albany Industries will locate manufacturing and shipping operations in Calhoun City, Mississippi. The project is expected to create 85 jobs.

The new 52,388-square-foot facility will be leased from the city. The company currently also has manufacturing operations in New Albany.

We were impressed with Calhoun City when we first visited, and we soon decided this was the place we wanted our next operation. We are very appreciative of the efforts the city made to secure us a location we could begin operating in as quickly as they did. We look forward to growing with and being part of the community there for many years to come,” Albany Industries Vice President of Operations Matt Ruth said.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) and Appalachian Regional Commission are providing assistance for building renovations. The city also is assisting with the project.

Albany Industries, LLC was founded in 1995, and production began with 15 employees in a 10,000 sq.ft. building in New Albany, Mississippi. Today, the company remains a domestic manufacturer of upholstered furniture pieces produced at four factories in three states, with over 1,200 employees. Albany’s vertical integration structure allows for control in all aspects of manufacturing and distribution.
