Ruan Transport Corp. will shutter its Decatur, Indiana, operations on June 1, eliminating 58 jobs, the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reports. Ruan expects the closure to be permanent, according to a company filing.
The decision to close may have partly been spurred by the loss of a contract for transporting soybean oil for Bunge North America. A competitor underbid Ruan.
The closure will affect 15 non-union drivers, 33 union drivers, three union shop mechanics, two transportation supervisors, and five other workers. The Teamsters Local 414 union represents the unionized employees.
