Tower International, Inc. will invest $15 million to expand operations at its facility in Meridian, Mississippi. The project is expected to create 83 jobs.

A global manufacturer of engineered automotive structural metal components and assemblies for small and large cars, crossovers, pick-ups and SUVs, Tower’s expansion involves the addition of new stamping and assembly processes at its existing 410,000- square-foot Meridian location. The expansion will accommodate existing and new contracts.

“This expansion by Tower International is a great economic win for Meridian, the State of Mississippi, and our thriving automotive industry,” Governor Phil Bryant said. “It serves as a testament to the fact that Mississippi is a great place to do business. I thank the team at Tower International for being a great business partner to the State of Mississippi and look forward to the company’s continued success in Meridian.”

“I wish to thank city and county officials and members of the Mississippi Development Authority and East Mississippi Business Development Corporation for their support in the expansion of Tower’s operations in Meridian,” said Jim Bernard, Tower’s President of the Americas Region. “This is a great example of the private and public sectors effectively working together toward a common goal.”

The Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for infrastructure improvements and building modifications. Lauderdale County and the city of Meridian provided assistance, as well.

“Working in collaboration with economic developers throughout the state, Mississippi strives to maintain a strong, supportive business climate that fosters growth, innovation and job creation,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. “We thank our partners at the city of Meridian, Lauderdale County and the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation for working with us to help this great company expand in Meridian.”
