Area Development
Development company Holland Construction Services is planning a major destination development in Marion, Illinois, according to the Southern Illinoisan. Company President Bruce Holland is considering a 400-acre site near Interstate 57 in the city for an entertainment, retail, and hotel conglomerate.

The project would cost approximately $378.6 million and create up to 6,000 jobs, in addition to temporary construction jobs during the building, according to Allan Patton of the Franklin County Regional Economic Development Corporation. The investment could bring upwards of $756.5 million back to the area.

Before construction begins, the Illinois General Assembly must pass legislation to permit the use of sales tax and revenue bonds to fund the project.
