General Cable Industries, Inc. will expand production at its manufacturing facility in Madison County, Tennessee. The wire and cable manufacturer will invest $3.7 million and create approximately 51 jobs in Jackson for its data communication cable business.

“The skills of General Cable’s Jackson team and their solid performance were major factors as we considered our options to support our data communications business,” said Mark Thackeray, General Cable’s Senior Vice President of Global Manufacturing & North American operations.

“We are pleased that our Jackson team is ready and able to take on additional product lines and production capabilities,” said Paul Furtado, Vice President & Manufacturing Team Leader, Communication & Assemblies Plants.

“The expansion of General Cable plays an important role in our community’s economy,” Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris said. “The company’s commitment to Jackson-Madison County significantly reinstates our sustainability in an industrial climate and increases value to our community.”
