Privately held contract manufacturer Autocam Medical will invest $60 million to expand its operations in Kentwood, Michigan. The project is expected to create 250 jobs.

This investment includes a new 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and global headquarters which will house state-of-the-art equipment and technology built to Autocam Medical specifications and proprietary processes. The new location at Broadmoor Avenue and 36th Street will be ready for occupancy in January of 2022.

“We decided to locate this new plant in West Michigan because even in a tight labor market, we have been able to find highly qualified team members, said Autocam Medical’s President and CEO, John C. Kennedy.” We believe the workforce here has allowed us to develop advanced technology that brings cost effective solutions to our customers, therefore enabling us to be among the best medical device contract manufacturers in the world.”

Autocam Medical creates a range of products, including plates and screws used in shoulder implants as well as drills and other tools used for surgical procedures. It employs about 230 people in West Michigan, and has plants in Plymouth, Massachusetts, as well as Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It also has locations in China and Brazil.

“We have built the company around the value of investing in our people and their growth. The company’s success is due to the knowledge that the employees bring to Autocam Medical every day,” added Kennedy. In addition to the comprehensive compensation package offered by the company, employees are encouraged to continue their education and training with Autocam Medical’s training partners, Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Valley State University, Ferris State University, and Western Michigan University."

Autocam Medical will continue to operate its existing plant at 4152 E. Paris Ave. SE in Kentwood once the new plant opens.
