Graphic Packaging, a producer of paperboard packaging, will close its Golden, Colorado manufacturing facility, laying off approximately 150 employees. The plant's work will be transferred to other locations in the United States. The closure is a result of the company's efforts to meet the changing needs of its customers, improve cost structure, and position itself for growth.

"While closing the Golden facility is a difficult decision, it is necessary to ensure that we are able to consistently serve our customers and meet their changing needs from a solid network of efficient, low-cost manufacturing facilities, even in the face of the ongoing economic challenges of today's marketplace," said David Scheible, Graphic Packaging president and CEO. "In the long run, we expect this move to help us better align ourselves with our customers' evolving manufacturing footprints and maximize our operational effectiveness as we focus on growing our business."

Graphic Packaging manufactures packaging for the food and beverage industry. It has headquarters in Marietta, Georgia.
