Monster Worldwide, the parent company of online employment recruiting website Monster.com, will open a new customer service facility in Florence, South Carolina, for users of the site and its services. The $28 million investment will initially bring 350 new jobs, with the possibility of up to 750 in total over the next five years. The company, headquartered in Massachusetts, plans to bring its customer service functions in-house after using a third-party provider. "Florence is an ideal choice for us because it's a rapidly developing labor market with the talent we'll need to bring best-in-class service to our customers," says Art O'Donnell, executive vice president, service for Monster. The company plans to begin recruiting for the new positions within the coming weeks, and will open operations in temporary quarters in September.
