The Kansas City Star is reporting that a decision could come as soon as today on whether Bombardier Aerospace will move forward with its new planned jet airliner. The project, a $375 million investment, will be located in either Kansas City, Missouri, or Mirabel, Quebec, near the company's Montreal headquarters. A company spokesperson has confirmed that the two locations are the only ones being considered. Earlier this year, the state of Missouri approved a $240 million tax incentives package to attract the project. At the same time, a Canadian machinists union has already voted to approve a tentative contract that would offer Bombardier significant cost savings and labor flexibility if the Canadian location is chosen. The Star's report says the company may not announce the location immediately even if the project go-ahead is announced.
