Area Development
Centrotherm Eco Systems, an international advanced energy technology company, moved into its new, expanded manufacturing facility in Albany, New York.

The company previously imported components from Europe and outsourced to a manufacturer in Pennsylvania. With this larger location and expanded operations, the company will now manufacture polypropylene vent systems in New York State.

The new facility is over 47,800 square-feet, which enables Centrotherm to continue operating in the Capital Region by expanding its national and international business.

As an incentive, Empire State Development will provide a grant of up to $100,000 to be used for a portion of the cost to purchase new machinery and equipment. In return, Centrotherm will create 35 new jobs, retain 11 current employees, and invest at least $1 million to upgrade the company’s manufacturing operations in Albany.

Centrotherm Eco Systems Vice President of Operations Joel Dzekciorius said, “We are excited to have started production of the InnoFlue brand of polypropylene flue gas venting in New York State."

He added, “Centrotherm Eco Systems is proud to announce, principles Martin Wawrla and Centrotec Sustainable A.G., have made a second investment in Centrotherm exceeding $1 million. This second investment increases our production capacity and furthers our commitment to continuous improvement with onsite lean manufacturing training from CEG. This additional investment and expansion would not have been possible without support from Empire State Development."

Centrotherm has made a number of facility improvements at its new location, including electrical upgrades, a production layout more conducive to lean manufacturing practices, the purchase of a new belling machine, and the installation of permanent racking. Centrotherm recently invested an additional $1.2 million in capital equipment to support workforce training and prepare for increased production of polypropylene piping at the Albany manufacturing facility.

“This expanded facility will bring new, highly skilled jobs and economic resources to the Capital Region,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said. “With the lowest manufacturing tax rate since 1917, New York is forging an identity as a national leader in the manufacturing industry. We will continue to invest in the growth and expansion of innovative industries to attract businesses to this region and across the state.”

ESD President/CEO/Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, “Centrotherm Eco Systems considered locations in other states and chose to expand manufacturing operations and create new jobs in Albany. We are proud to support Centrotherm’s new and expanded facilities in the Capital Region and look forward to the company’s continued growth and success in the Empire State.”
