Area Development
The Outdoor Group LLC, a manufacturer of high-end archery equipment, will build a new 70,000 square foot manufacturing building and move part of its operations from Kentucky to the Rochester suburb of Henrietta, New York. The deal will retain 44 jobs currently in Rochester and relocate 35 jobs from Kentucky.

As an incentive The Outdoor Group LLC will receive $900,000 in Excelsior tax credits from Empire State Development for its $5 million investment.

"This move by The Outdoor Group from out of state to the Finger Lakes region is another example of the progress we are making to attract and grow businesses in Upstate New York," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. "By expanding its employment in the region and spending $5 million for a new manufacturing facility, this company is moving the Rochester area forward and making an important investment in Upstate New York."

The Outdoor Group LLC is an umbrella group for a series of LLC’s all involved in the manufacturing of high end archery equipment. The Outdoor Group operates three manufacturing locations in Rochester, Kentucky and Oregon. TOG recently outgrew its Rochester location of 15,000 square feet of leased space, prompting an evaluation of options to account for the company’s growth and to consolidate operations, the Governor’s Office said.

“As a lifelong resident of Western New York, I was very pleased that the State of New York and Monroe County were able to help us keep our growing business right here in Henrietta,” said Peter Crawford, President of The Outdoor Group. “It is fantastic to see New York State and its counties implement programs that will grow our own economy and retain jobs.”

The Governor’s Office explained associated with this potential expansion is a Rochester-based composite mold manufacturer named All American Precision Mold & Tool Co. Currently TOG accounts for 90 percent of All American’s business and TOG has recently come to terms on a purchase of All American investments. Due to the reliance of such a large portion of their business, if TOG chose to instead locate in Kentucky, All American would either had to have left with TOG or would be closing. Instead, All American will be absorbed into TOG and also be located in its newly built facility.

“The Finger Lakes region is known for its strength in material and precision manufacturing expertise, which The Outdoor Group recognizes and is capitalizing on,” said Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Kenneth Adams. “This industry leader will continue to foster innovation in Rochester while growing good jobs and producing quality New York State-made products for the sports industry.”

“The Outdoor Group’s significant expansion in our community represents the melding of two things Monroe County is widely known for – a love of sport and our natural surroundings, and a reliance on the exceptional work done by the men and women who are employed in our renowned precision manufacturing field,” said Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks. “Monroe County is proud to have worked with the Outdoor Group to help them grow their investment and create jobs right here in our community, and we wish the company continued success moving forward.”
