Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc., the US subsidiary of a German firm focusing on biological research, development, and manufacturing for the animal health business, plans a $79 million investment in a new warehouse facility and administration building in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The company is constructing a new 260,000 square-foot consolidated packaging and physical distribution warehouse in Eastowne Business Park to consolidate all warehousing, packaging and labeling functions under one roof. The new facilities will increase its efficiency in getting products to its customers. Combined with the new administration building, the corporation's current expansion will create 115 new jobs, Gov. Jay Nixon said.

"Locating this new warehouse operation in St. Joseph will help increase our supply chain efficiency," said Dr. Albrecht Kissel, President and CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. "We are thankful that the St. Joseph Metro Chamber, City of St. Joseph, Buchanan County and the State of Missouri are supportive partners in our growth."

"Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. is an anchor of the Animal Health Corridor, and this latest expansion in St. Joseph strengthens our state's standing as a leader in this worldwide industry," Gov. Nixon said.

To assist Boehringer-Ingelheim Vetmedica in moving forward with its growth plans, the company could be eligible for a strategic economic incentive package from the state of Missouri if it meets the strict job creation and investment criteria of each program. The firm is also located within the city's Enterprise Zone making it eligible for tax incentives.
