Area Development
AZZ Galvanizing Services, a global provider of galvanizing services, will soon begin construction of a new plant in the Tahoe-Reno-Industrial Center near Reno, Nevada. The company plans to hire up to 60 employees over the first two to three years.

Tim Pendley, COO of Galvanizing Services of AZZ said, "We chose Reno because of all the positive economic development in the area. It provides the opportunity to develop this new and untapped market. We've been planning the expansion into the Reno area for several years, waiting for the right time to invest in the future of this growing economy. We are very excited to be part of Nevada's future."

The new facility is scheduled to open by January 2016 and will be the latest in a network of 43 AZZ hot-dip galvanizing plants in the United States and Canada. Hot dip galvanizing is an environmentally conscientious process of protecting steel from decay by alloying zinc on the surface on the surface of the steel resulting in a maintenance-free corrosion protection that lasts for generations. Galvanized steel is found in housing, schools, bridges, guard rails, power transmission poles, highway signs, light poles, stadiums and numerous other applications.

"It is exciting to see that AZZ Galvanizing is using revolutionary technology to treat steel not only in an environmentally-friendly way but also to produce a higher quality product. This kind of operation further identifies our region as an attractive place for innovative companies," said Mike Kazmierski, CEO of Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada." AZZ is a great fit for our community and signifies that the advanced manufacturing sector continues to grow and thrive here.”

Additional business partners that assisted AZZ Galvanizing to establish themselves here include, L. Lance Gilman, LLC, NV Energy, Miles Construction, Storey County Economic Development and Reno Engineering.
