Hotwire Communications, one of the nation’s leading fiber optics telecommunications providers, will open its new headquarters, the Hotwire Technology Center, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The firm will invest more than $27 million in the local community and is expected to create 375 new jobs.

Kristin Johnson Karp, President of Hotwire Communications said, “Fort Lauderdale is a thriving community with a diverse talent pool and a great place to live for our employees. We are looking forward to joining the Fort Lauderdale community as we open our new headquarters at the Hotwire Technology Center.”

“The IT industry continues to grow and Florida’s high-tech workforce is meeting those needs,” said Crystal Sircy, COO and Executive Vice President of Enterprise Florida. “Florida has been a leader in the IT industry for decades and companies like Hotwire Communications help to keep the state at the forefront with their industry-leading technology and growth.”

Governor Rick Scott said, “I am proud to announce today that Hotwire Communications moved its headquarters from Pennsylvania to Florida and will be creating 375 new Florida jobs. The new headquarters will also more than double their workforce in our state, which is great news for our families. Last year, I led a business development mission to Pennsylvania to share why Florida is the best location for businesses to grow. Because of our low taxes and business-friendly policies, I am glad to make this big announcement following last year’s trip.”

Cissy Proctor, Executive Director of the Department of Economic Opportunity, said, “Companies like Hotwire are choosing to relocate to Florida because of our focus on low taxes and a business-friendly environment. The addition of 375 high-wage STEM jobs will make a real difference for Fort Lauderdale workers and families.”

Mayor Jack Seiler of the City of Fort Lauderdale said, “We are proud to be the new home of Hotwire Communications. Bringing 675 jobs to Fort Lauderdale and infusing more than $27 million into our City underscores our strong economic fundamentals, solidifies us as a leading center for business and technology, and strengthens our position as an emerging global telecommunications hub. Fort Lauderdale’s robust business climate, strategic location, and outstanding quality of life, make us the perfect choice for Hotwire’s new headquarters. We extend our warmest welcome to the company and look forward to its continued growth and success.”

“Congratulations to Hotwire Communications on its new Technology Center. We appreciate the significant investment Hotwire is making, not only by bringing a new headquarters and large number of high-wage jobs to the county, but also through its building purchase and substantial capital investment in the community," said Bob Swindell, President/CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance.
