Zotos International has broken ground on a $7 million wind energy project in Geneva, New York. The facility will produce 3.3 megawatts of wind power, and should be completed by the end of the year. The development is the largest wind project of any manufacturing company in the United States, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

"This is truly a historic day, not only for Zotos as a company, but for Geneva as a community, and our nation as a leader in the global, green economy," said Anthony Perdigao, vice president of plant operations at Zotos. "With this wind project - the largest of any manufacturer in the U.S. and a first in the beauty industry - Zotos is leading the way toward a better, cleaner, more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren."

Zotos is a hair care product manufacturer and wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido.

Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will provide 30 percent of the project's costs.
