TMI Climate Solutions will invest $6.2 million to expand its headquarters and manufacturing campus in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, with plans to create from 30 to 50 jobs over the next three years.

Located south of Flint, Michigan, with 150 employees, TMI is a manufacturer of custom air handling systems and mechanical penthouses. The Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce said TMI expanded its customer base beyond primarily automotive to include emerging markets such as hospitals, universities, laboratories and large commercial and government facilities. In addition, TMI exports products to Australia, Canada, China, Dubai, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

TMI is broadening its capacity to accommodate growth in its hydronics business, Jim Huff, TMI’s Chief Executive Officer said. The larger facility adds 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 9,000 square feet of office space to meet growing client demand.

“Our growth will help us add additional 20-ton and 30-ton cranes,” said Huff. “These cranes are critical to accommodate customer demand for refrigeration units, pump skids, as well as chiller and boiler plants. The Chamber has played an integral role in TMI’s expansion and has delivered valuable connections to lean process improvement, exporting, workforce training, incentives and funding. We have chosen to expand here because of the area’s positive business climate and strengths in workforce skills, STEM education and infrastructure.”

“It’s great to see TMI growing and succeeding in Genesee County,” said Tim Herman, CEO, Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “Our Economic Development team has worked with TMI to support their growth through training and connectivity to incentives and collaboration. The expansion of this facility is another signal that businesses can grow and be successful in Genesee County.”

“We are excited that TMI is growing here in Grand Blanc Township,” Mikki Hoffman, Supervisor of Grand Blanc Township said. “The investment is a welcome addition to the community and the region. It is a sign that the township is a good place to do business and that we can play a role in the global economy. We have worked closely with TMI for many years and congratulate them on their continued success.”
