Nature's Fuel, an alternative fuel waste recycler, plans to build a $350 million processing plant in Huntington, Indiana, that will create about 200 jobs.

The firm will construct a 360,000 square foot waste sorting facility at the landfill. The plant will accept municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, industrial waste, tires, and water treatment sludge. According the firm, the solid waste will be thoroughly separated and transformed into renewable products, such as; renewable ultra-low-sulfur diesel and synthetic crude oil distillate.

"We are excited about the opportunity that we have in Huntington, Indiana. We had over-the-top support from the Landfill Manager, the Mayor, City and County officials, the City Council, the County Commissioners, the Solid Waste District, the CARE Group, and many of our new neighbors in Huntington. We have been issued both air and waste processing permits. We plan to have our roads, slabs, and foundations in before the end of 2012 and expect to be operational in the second half of 2013," the firm said.

Tipping fees for all wastes brought into this facility will be shared with the city of Huntington. "Once operational, we expect this to be one of the most visited plants in the country and expect it to set the bar extremely high for our other plants and future competitors to follow," Nature's Fuel officials said. The plant is eligible for Indiana job training grants and tax incentives, with Huntington County providing an approximately $3.2 million property tax abatement over the next decade.
