Google Hiring 6,200 in 2011, a 25 percent Work Force Increase

01/26/2011
Google is planning a major work force expansion for 2011. The company will create approximately 6,200 jobs, the most ever in its history. That will expand its employee base by at least 25 percent.

In the company blog, Alan Eustace, senior vice president of engineering and research, said that Google's 2010 innovations and new products are driving company growth. "Many of our big bets - on mobile, display advertising, the cloud, and more - really started to pay off," Eustace wrote.

Google's Android system operates on more than 100 devices and has more than 300,000 activations every day. And 1 million businesses switched to Google Apps last year. It also made its search functions speedier.

Last year, Google created 4,600 jobs, increasing its work force by 23 percent.
