01/30/2008
Ford Motor Company South Africa will invest more than US$209 million in two South African factories to expand operations for the production of the company's compact pickup truck and Puma diesel engine. The project will begin in 2009 and will split the investment between plants in two plants: the new diesel engine will begin production in 2010 at the engine plant in Struandale, Port Elizabeth, followed by the new pickup in 2011 at the assembly plant in Silverton, Pretoria. The company expects to hire up to 500 new employees at full operations. Ford has been operating in South Africa since 1923.
