Wet Wipe Maker Locating $40M Plant in Arkansas

10/14/2008
Nice-Pak Products, Inc., a manufacturer of pre-moistened wipes and towelettes for consumer and commercial industries, will invest $40 million to locate a manufacturing facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas, according to the Arkansas governor's office. The company plans to hire 300 people at the plant, which will be its fourth in the United States; they are headquartered in New York. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that the company will renovate an existing 630,000-square-foot former furniture factory and plans to begin production there by the end of the year. Dennis Brody, Nice-Pak's vice president for human resources, tells the Democrat Gazette that economic reasons played a key role in the company's choice of Jonesboro. "The community is very focused on working with employers, and it has a good supply of labor," he says. "And it's a livable community with lots of activities, a good school system, and a good cost of living." Neither the company nor the state released information regarding incentives.
