Korean Auto Supplier Drives Georgia Growth

Dongwon Autopart Technology, a South Korean manufacturer of automotive parts, will locate a new facility in Meriwether County that will serve the Kia Motors plant currently under construction in West Point, Georgia. According to Georgia state officials, Dongwon will invest approximately US$30 million to build the new facility and more than 300 new jobs are expected. Construction on the new plant, which will be between 120,000 and 150,000 square feet, will begin in January 2008 and should be completed by the end of July. Dongwon will manufacture door frames, side impact beams, roof molding, side absorbers, and cross bars for the cars produced at the Kia facility.
