Parachute Manufacturer Creating 375 Jobs in North Carolina

10/08/2009
North American Aerodynamics Inc., a manufacturer of parachutes for military and sports markets, will invest $900,000 to expand its facility in Roxboro, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina governor's office. The company plans to create 375 new jobs at an average annual salary of $23,834 plus benefits. The expanded production will make cargo and flare parachutes for military operations in Afghanistan. "The decision to expand in Roxboro was made because of the community's dedicated work force and the enthusiastic support of the Person County Economic Development Commission, the state Department of Commerce, the managers and elected officials of Roxboro and Person County, and other development partners," says John Higgins, North American Aerodynamics' president. The state will provide a $300,000 grant to the company, contingent on job creation, that must be matched by local governments.
