Home Elevator & Lift Products Expands Facility In Snow Hill, North Carolina
12/19/2016
Home Elevator was established by Tide Tamer Industries, a manufacturer of marine lifts, cargo elevators and related products. Its expansion involves producing and servicing passenger elevators such as chair lifts for the residential market.
The company currently employs 24 people in North Carolina. Home Elevator intends to hire 22 workers at its operations in Snow Hill, North Carolina. Positions will include production workers, installation technicians and sales representatives.
“Eastern North Carolina’s moderate costs, excellent labor force and supportive business climate enable manufacturers like us to succeed and grow,” said company president F. H. “Buzz” Shackelford. “We want to thank state and local officials who assisted our company as we planned for this expansion.”
The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant of up to $50,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state.
Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for the grant. One NC grants also require and are contingent on financial matches from local governments.
“Making goods and products is in North Carolina’s DNA,” said Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla III. “Home Elevator & Lift Products keeps our great state ranked first in the Southeast for the number of manufacturing jobs.” “North Carolina continues to grow manufacturing jobs,” said Governor Pat McCrory. “From boat lifts to residential chair lifts, Home Elevator builds on exceptional experience and expertise in its industry.
Numerous state and local partners worked with EDPNC and N.C. Commerce in supporting Home Elevator & Lift Products’ expansion plans. They include the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority, the North Carolina Community College System, Greene County, the Greene County Economic Development Commission and the Town of Snow Hill.
