Defense Company Investing $40M in Pennsylvania

03/17/2008
BAE Systems Inc., a defense company, will expand its manufacturing facility in York, Pennsylvania, with a $40 million investment. At least 624 new high-paying jobs are planned within the next three years, with retention of more than 1,600 existing positions at the facility. The expansion - to support the production of military vehicles for the U.S. Department of Defense - will entail building renovations, leasehold improvements, and acquisition of new machinery and equipment. "With this expansion, we can continue providing our men and women in the Armed Forces with the best possible equipment. We are committed to protecting those who protect us," says Raj Rajagopal, BAE's president of Ground Systems. State economic development agencies provided a $4.3 million incentives package to the company, including a grant and job creation tax credits.
