Daimler Division Building Research Center in Michigan

03/19/2009
Mercedes-Benz Hybrid LLC, a subsidiary of German automaker Daimler AG, will invest $10 million to build a research and development center near Ann Arbor, Michigan, according to the Michigan governor's office. The project is expected to create 223 new jobs. The governor's office says the company will develop and maintain a line of conventional and alternative propulsion systems at the facility. Company officials have not yet chosen a site, but it will be in Washtenaw County in the Ann Arbor region. Mercedes-Benz Hybrid has been offered incentives that include a state tax credit worth approximately $7.5 million over 10 years; local governments in the Ann Arbor region will also consider tax abatement when the company picks a site.
