Edward Jones to Boost Connecticut Work Force by 11 percent

04/12/2010
Brokerage firm Edward Jones plans to increase its employee base in Connecticut by 11 percent this year, and is looking to double its work force in the state over the next five to 10 years. The company currently has 77 advisers and 68 branches in Connecticut, and will add at least 10 advisers this year.

"We don't think we've scratched the surface yet," Prince Woodward, a principal of financial adviser development, told the Hartford Business Journal.

If the firm doubles its presence in Connecticut, it could have as many as 150 advisors in the Hartford metropolitan area. The company maintains offices in Windsor, Bloomfield, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Farmington, and Canton.

Nationwide, Edward Jones plans to add 1,068 advisers, and 95 brokers in Canada. At the end of last year, the firm had 11,927 brokers in the U.S. It manages approximately $500 billion in individual and small business assets.
