K-C's investment in the site reversed a trend for the company, reported The Post-Cresecent. "As part of a three-year global restructuring plan announced in 2005, the company reduced its global workforce of 57,000 at that time by 6,000 workers, or about 10.5 percent," noted the local newspaper. "In 2006, various layoffs in K-C's Fox Cities operations resulted in about 1,000 job cuts. With the Cold Spring expansion, the company today employs about 3,300 people in the Fox Cities."
Dallas-based Kimberly-Clark makes numerous well-known consumer product brands such as Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Kotex, Poise and Depend. It employs 56,000 workers worldwide; about 3,300 of them work in the Fox Cities region. In 2010 the company posted $19.7 billion in sales.
