05/25/2011
Deere & Co. of Moline, IL, announces it will build a new $60 million engine manufacturing plant in Tianjin, China. to support facilities manufacturing its agricultural, construction and forestry equipment. It will be located near many of the company's other plants in the same city. Production could begin in late 2013.

Chairman and CEO Samuel R. Allen said the engine factory will allow John Deere "to deliver increased technology for China customers while leveraging enterprise investments and engineering resources in China."

This is the company's sixth engine factory worldwide; others are in France, India, Argentina, Mexico and the United States. Last Wednesday, Deere announced it would invest $80 million in a new equipment manufacturing plant in northeast China.
