Chinese Manufacturer of Solar Cells Set’s Up Shop in Charlotte, Creating up to 40 New Jobs
06/24/2011
Jetion Solar employs over 2,000 workers with a highly developed customer base in both Asia and Europe. The new Charlotte operation will function as the company's primary North American sales and service center and will also assemble solar modules beginning in July this year. It is estimated that 40 new jobs will be created through the end of 2011.
According to a press release from The Charlotte Chamber, it assisted Jetion Solar in 2010 with its assessment of Charlotte's manufacturing and business environment. The release did not mention if the company qualified for any tax breaks or business incentives. However, in the company press release, Jetion noted that, "the Charlotte area is one of the most progressive regions in the U.S. in terms of sustainability awareness, tax incentives for renewable energy, accessibility for all modes of transportation and a business-friendly environment..."
Jetion incorporated within the U.S. in December of 2010 and officially took over the Charlotte facility in May 2011. A complete renovation of the facility was completed on June 17 and, the company has announced that it will begin hiring workers sometime in July.
