Auto Components Maker Expands to Virginia

06/30/2008
Westport Corporation, an automotive components manufacturer, will open a new assembly plant in an existing 203,000-square-foot building in Roanoke, Virginia. The facility will assemble axles for the Volvo Heavy Truck plant in Dublin, Virginia, and the company will create 60 new jobs there at full operations. The total investment for the project is approximately $3 million. "We are pleased to be working with Volvo and to be operating in the Roanoke Valley. This building fits our needs and we are impressed with the region's business climate," says Rena Sharpe, vice president of operations for Westport. Westport Corporation has been offered several financial incentives by the state, including tax breaks and training assistance.
