Tire Manufacturer Locating Facility, Creating 400+ Jobs in Tennessee

07/21/2009
Carlisle Tire & Wheel (CTW), a manufacturer of tires, wheels, and inner tubes for industrial and commercial vehicles, will locate a new manufacturing facility in Jackson, Tennessee, according to state economic development officials. The company, a subsidiary of multiple product manufacturer Carlisle Companies, plans to create 440 new jobs with the project. State officials, who worked with a regional economic development partnership of several local economic development agencies, did not release the exact amount of the investment but say it is in the multimillions of dollars. "The Jackson, Tennesee, facility affords CTW an ideal location for our new facility, more centralized to our markets, with excellent expansion opportunities," says Fred Sutter, CTW's president. "This strategic move will strengthen CTW's competitive advantage and maximize the benefit of our lean manufacturing system, the Carlisle Operating System, which allows us to improve our overall profitability and increase shareholder value." Economic development officials involved in the deal did not release details of financial incentives that were offered to CTW, but say that the company will qualify for tax breaks and training assistance. The deal is expected to close in September.
