France-Based Animal Health Company Investing $15 Million for New Kansas Plant

09/01/2009
Ceva Biomune, a U.S. subsidiary of France-headquartered animal health company Ceva Sante Animale, will invest US$15 million to build a new production plant in Lenexa, Kansas, according to the Kansas City Business Journal. The company plans to create 80 new jobs with the project. The new 20,000-square-foot facility, scheduled to become operational in mid-2010, will be adjacent to Ceva's existing plant in Lenexa and will house a state-of-the-art poultry vaccine production center. At the same time, the company plans to increase its cattle and swine vaccine production at the existing plant. The Journal quotes a company spokesperson as saying Ceva considered sites in Brazil and Europe for the new facility, but chose to expand in Lenexa "because of the strength of the company's existing work force in R&D and manufacturing." No information was released regarding financial incentives.
