Industrial Equipment Manufacturer Expanding in Wisconsin

09/16/2008
Manitowoc Cranes, a manufacturer of cranes, refrigeration, and marine equipment, will invest $25 million to expand its facilities in Manitowoc and Port Washington, Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin governor's office. The project is expected to create 157 jobs. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the company plans to hire machinists, welders, and engineers, and has formed a partnership with Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin, for worker training. "We have been very aggressive because you just don't find these types of skills easily," says Steve Brahm, the company's vice president of operations, quoted in the Journal Sentinel. "We have placed a high degree of emphasis on finding engineering talent as well as the skilled trades." Financial incentives offered to Manitowoc Cranes include $1.02 million in Enterprise Development Zone tax credits.
