10/30/2015
“Mississippi Silicon, with the latest technology and most environmentally friendly equipment available in the world, will be the premier silicon manufacturing facility in our industry,” said Ricardo Vicintin, Rima Industrial CEO. “Our company could not be any prouder of what has been accomplished in Mississippi. We appreciate the strong working relationship we have with the state of Mississippi and the support received from the Mississippi Development Authority, Tishomingo County and the Tennessee Valley Authority.”
Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for construction and workforce training. Tishomingo County and Tennessee Valley Authority also provided assistance.
“Mississippi Silicon’s grand opening is a tribute to the leadership of the Tennessee Valley Authority, Tishomingo County and MDA, who worked together to bring this great company to our state, creating exciting career opportunities for the people of Northeast Mississippi,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We congratulate Mississippi Silicon on this milestone and look forward to the company’s growth and success in Tishomingo County.”
The new Mississippi-based facility will produce silicon metal for a broad range of industries in the United States including the aluminum, automotive and chemical industries. Mississippi Silicon is a strategic partnership between Rima Holdings USA, Inc., owned by the Vicintin family who also owns Rima Industrial S/A in Brazil, and domestic investor group Clean Tech I.
“I appreciate the team at Mississippi Silicon for choosing a Mississippi location and creating so many new jobs in the region. This facility will generate a significant effect on the area’s economy, and its opening is a testament to the coordinated teamwork of state and local economic developers,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “I know the region’s workforce will produce world-class results, ensuring Mississippi Silicon enjoys many successful years in our state.”
