Defense Technology Equipment, Inc., a provider of aviation logistics and procurement solutions for military and commercial platforms, will invest $866,500 to expand in Loudoun County, Virginia.

The company is a leader in the aerospace industry for aftermarket sales and distribution of spare parts for military aircraft, and has been in the field of military aerospace and aviation logistics support since 1989.

“Virginia’s vast assets, including strategic Mid-Atlantic location with access to several international airports and ports, workforce, and education system, were key factors in our decision to expand in Loudoun County,” said Maria Badillo, Senior Vice President, Defense Technology Equipment. “I look forward to continuing to work with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Loudoun County as we begin the next chapter of our growth in the Commonwealth.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership will support DTE’s new job creation through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP). VJIP provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs or experiencing technological change to support employee training activities. As a business incentive supporting economic development, VJIP reduces the human resource costs of new and expanding companies. VJIP is state-funded, demonstrating Virginia’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities for its citizens.

With offices strategically located only 15 minutes from Washington, D.C. and a distribution center and warehouse five minutes from Dulles International Airport, Defense Technology Equipment has the capability to provide its customers technical support and Aircraft On the Ground (AOG) needs in a short period of time, state officials said.

Defense Technology Equipment is a 2014 graduate of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) award-winning Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. VALET is an application-based, two-year international export acceleration program.
“We are proud to host Defense Technology Equipment on Virginia’s corporate roster, and congratulate the company on its impressive growth,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Todd Haymore. “More than 285 aerospace firms call the Commonwealth home, and they are drawn here by a skilled workforce, pro-business environment, and unparalled infrastructure. Virginia has been a leader in this industry of the future for decades, and continuing to support and grow this vital sector will remain a priority for years to come.”

“Defense Technology Equipment has called Loudoun County home for nearly 30 years, and we are thrilled to watch this small, Virginia-based business nearly double its workforce with this expansion,” said Governor Terry McAuliffe. “The Commonwealth is an ideal location for companies serving the aerospace industry and the military, as our central East Coast location, close proximity to U.S. government agencies, and premier transportation network all enable easy, strategic access to customers anywhere in the world. The success and commitment of businesses like DTE is a testament to Virginia’s world-class workforce and business climate, and represents more progress building the new Virginia economy.”

“DTE is an exciting LoudounPossible success story, an impressive company that has achieved growth and stability over time,” said Buddy Rizer, Executive Director, Loudoun Economic Development. “We applaud the company’s expansion and look forward to its continued contribution to the success of Loudoun’s economy.”
