The firm will lease a 66,600-square-foot facility in South Centre Township and invest $405,000 in leasehold improvements, new equipment purchases and employee training activities.

“Our products offer solutions to many problems that currently exist in the construction industry,” said Jonathan Davidson, President, Modular Steel Systems. “We are excited to become members of the Berwick community and are looking forward to hiring employees and creating a strong team. We would like to thank the Corbett administration, the Berwick Industrial Development Association, Inc. and everyone else involved for his or her help and support.”

“With each new job created, another family can work, live and thrive in Pennsylvania,” said Governor Tom Corbett. “My administration is proud to partner with Modular Steel Systems to create these family-sustaining jobs in Columbia County.”

The company received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development including a $26,100 Guaranteed Free Training grant to be used to train its new workforce. Additional funding includes an $80,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant that facilitates investment and job creation and $116,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits. MSS has accepted the funding proposal, but must still apply for each loan and grant and agree to the terms prior to award receipt.

“The Berwick Industrial Development Association, Inc. is pleased to welcome Modular Steel Systems, Inc. as a part of the Columbia County Business Community,” said Executive Director, Steve Phillips. “The industrial development corporation welcomes the 58 new jobs that the firm anticipates creating in its initial three years of occupancy in a former vacant manufacturing facility. BIDA purchased this site in an effort to attract new employment opportunities to the area, and the lease it executed with Modular Steel Systems certainly validated this effort.”
