A company that specializes in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of military and commercial helicopters and small aircrafts, Alabama Aircraft Support will construct a 64,800-square-foot aircraft maintenance building and hangar at Enterprise, Alabama, Municipal Airport.

The city was awarded a $500,000 state Community Development Block Grant to assist the firm, by providing infrastructure that will enable it to expand and create 200 jobs in the region. CDBG funding will provide sewer services to the facility that will be built on a 9-acre site at Enterprise Municipal Airport. In addition, the city has pledged $219,940 in additional funds for the sewer project.

β€œIt is a tribute to Alabama workers that our state is not only recognized for excellence in automobile manufacturing, but also has an equally good reputation in the aviation and aerospace industries,” Governor Robert Bentley said. β€œI am pleased to support this project and commend the dedicated community leaders, company officials and employees that have made this expansion possible.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, infrastructure upgrades, recreation, energy, water resources, job training and career development.
